Those who are eager for changes can make some changes to their iPhones’ interface. Go to Cydia and download:
Color Signal Bars colors the signal level bars depending on signal strength.

iPhone’s screen can serve as a pocket light if its brightness is set to maximum. It’s very useful when you enter a dark room or if you’re looking for the switch in the darkness. AppStore offered us a free Light application by Erica Sadun for this purpose…

…until Apple figured that such applications wear out the display and override brightness level set by the user. So, Erica’s application is out of the door. But no worries, Cydia has an analogue FlashLight software.

Just install, and let the light shine.

P.S. By the way, iPod Nano first gen had the most powerful display that could compete with aviation projectors.

Today, the popular NES.app emulator was updated to 2.3.0 version.

It now supports the accelerometer.

It supports not only ICQ and other services but chats also.

How do you use it? First, you need to download and install a program from AppStore. Then, register at the authors’ website. After this, you need to enter you login/password in the program.
Further instructions:
1. Open Palringo. In the middle of top row you can see: “P”, “Human”, “2Human”. Click “2Human”.
2. Click “Join a Group”.
3. Enter: iphones.ru.
4. Join this group.
5. Done. You’re in the group.

According to Dev Team their jailbreak works with the new (not yet released) 2.1 software. They have published this screenshot as a proof. They haven’t let us down for a long time. Let’s hope that we will get this freshly-baked unlock this time, too.

I think not everyone here played Quake I. I know that Kit did, a couple of years ago we were in Team Fortress league and were playing on Demos and ORC servers at night.

And now the tireless zodttd (the author of vls/ogg4iPhone, Snes, etc.) after all these years has ported to iPhone 2.0 the famous first Quake. You can download it from Cydia, the filename is Quake4iPhone. I’ve installed it, but after an hour of playing I figured that our phone is not meant for FPS games. Anyway, without the keyboard and mouse, the game process reminds the marathon with steel bars attached to your feet. Lets watch (the video is rather long, but I was just so excited)

I really want the developers to create a keyboard for iPhone. This way, we’ll be able to fully appreciate this game.

The functionality of GPS was increased – now the tracking will show where you are going and what speed you maintain.

I haven’t seen this much encoding formats all in one place yet. Here’s a program that allows converting video to almost any format. Just look at the list:

Erica Sadun, the great female programmer who shook the programmer’s world has begun porting her 2.0 utilities to Cydia repositories. One of the applications is Make It Mine. It allows to change the name of the network operator on your display and replace the electronic clock with something nice.

The popularity of Erica Sadun is reflected in The Joy of Tech internet comic series. She is pictured as princess Leia who together with Anonymous Skyhacker is fighting the Jobs Vader’s evil empire.

The long names “MTS-RUS” and “MEGAFON” don’t fit into screen. Make It Mine allows to deal with this nicely.

You’ve probably noticed that there weren’t any application reviews for 1.x.x softwares. Don’t think we’ve forgotten about them. It’s just that we don’t have anything to test them on. Our iPhones have 2.0 software.
Honestly, there weren’t anything new in the Installer either. The developers now have the new path, and the number of updates (not releases!) went down to a couple a day.

The applications at AppStore and Cydia are way more interesting.

No, this is not another game from AppStore. But there’s an analogue program in there.
This game is from Cydia!!!

A Pacman classic. Controls are carried out with accelerometer. No complaints about the graphics or gameplay. Everything is done in good ol’ way.

Just refresh Cydia and you’ll see this game.

The thing we’ve been waiting for so long finally happened: WinPwn 2.0 is here!

It now supports:
- 1.1.4 and 2.0;
- custom boot and recovery logos;
- payloads;
- iPhone 3G.

BossPrefs is what I’ve been missing after upgrading to 2.0. Everything at hand, easy and useful.

Where do we get it? Of course in Cydia.

For those who have no clue about this application: it allows to change your phone’s settings “on-the-fly”. You can quickly turn Edge, WiFi, Bluetooth, and SSh on and off. It can also hide the unneeded icons from springboard. It can also perform Respring, Reboot, Power off. And much more. So install, you won’t regret.

Finally, we’ll have the copy-paste function on our iPhones! But not the way we hoped… It won’t be a standard widget, but a separate application that will allow to copy and paste text. Also, the application will represent fully functional text editor:

• 5 font sizes
• 6 different fonts
• 8 colors
• available formatting: bold, italic, underlined, and strikeout

At the moment Cydia is used with 2.0 as Installer alternative program with 2.0. It was founded by Jay (saurik) Freeman, who’s idea was to create a global open-source project for iPhone software development. It is called Telesphoreo (greek – “to bring fruit to perfection”)
Cydia is the iPhone platform. Again, the name wasn’t random. Cydia pomonella means codling moth.

Almost two weeks passed since the release of this great program. We’ve written about it earlier.. There were some bug at the time, but now they all are fixed.

I think the most important thing about the new version is… the drums… the support of 2.0! Yes, guys, he did it!

In iLand, we use (and provide to our clients) Daylite CRM-system, which is custom rewritten for GTD method.
There will be some changes with 2.0 and AppStore appearance.

Marketcircle Company, the developer of Daylite, will be distributing the iPhone client for free through AppStore. The server storing the base will have to have paid soft-server for Daylite.
