I present to you MobileFinder, an ordinary file manager for iPhone. Let’s start with the price. It is unreasonably low for this functionality – $1.99.

You can copy, create new folders, delete and move around the files. You can see the full ist of formats supported at the developers’ website. (read more…)

This game is a 15 levels simulator of a weapon. Your goal is to destroy the enemy targets in the mountains, maybe even somewhere close to our borders. The controls are easy and contain only 2 settings shooting angle and bullet speed.
The amazing feature of the game is that it generates different levels a startup.
The game is completely free.
Update by SeaBreeze: Cleared it in half hour. But so much pleasure!

After you complete the game, you can relaunch it you’ll face all new battlefield.

The name PapiJump itself means an interesting and childish application. We control the main (and only) hero Papi with accelerometer and help him jump upon the blocks which are generated differently each time.

PapiJump is almost completely linked to the developers’ website, even the instructions launch in browser, and it’s not very useful. In spite of simple graphics, the developers’ laziness, absence of good soundtrack (which the games of this type usually have) and everything being on-line, the arcade doesn’t quite impress.

Greatly introduced here GTS World Racing turned out to be not so great after all. Keep reading to know why.
Right after I saw the video, I rushed to buy the only realistic racing game for iPhone there is. I had some money left on my account. Later, I thought I would be better if I didn’t have them. I should have waited for Asphalt 4, the new NFS or something else.

Gameplay
The game features a few competition types: single player, cup, tournament and Grand Tour and 3 cars to choose from: coupe, sportier and Formula bolide. The tracks are all alike: a turn, a tunnel, a turn all track long (and the track itself isn’t this curvy). If you drive out of the track to the grass, your speed goes down to 30 mph at once, and this is not possible whatsoever (read more…)

This game was at AppStore since its opening. But at the time it was buggy and didn’t deserve any attention.
One month after, the developers fixed the bugs, and added Russian language support.
You are the pilot of a spaceship which is journeying in space. Your mission is to get to a defined point. On your way you’ll see asteroids, laser obstacles and flying “barrels”. The ship is protected by the force shield that will help you in case of crashes.
As requested, here is a video of gameplay:
Game costs $2.99
Some of you may remember the game machine with it that existed a while ago.

Not so long ago we’ve told you about Beijing 2008, a program that helps you keep track of Russia’s progress at the Olympics.
And now we present you another program that allows you to read the latest news of the Olympics: Lenovo Summer Olympics 2008.

The application is completely free.
If you combine them, you’ll be able to get the full info about the games right to your iPhone.
The discussion of the Olympics is at the forum.

It’s a pity we haven’t done a review of this application before.
The main purpose of this software is song recognizing. Yes, that’s right. Imagine, you’re in a car and hear a song that you like, but you have no idea who performs it, you press Tag Now and wait 12 seconds. The program sends the fragment to the server and you receive full info about the song.
It doesn’t eat up a lot of traffic. It took it 117 Kb to recognize 4 songs. It’s not that much.
Moreover, with Shazam you can get the album artwork, artist photos, watch YouTube video or buy the song.
The program is completely free, you can download it using this iTunes link.

Here we have a classic reincarnation of 1983 Frogger by Konami.
The goal of the game is to lead the most popular in games history frog through a world full of dangers: streets, rivers, bushes, cars, snakes. The controls are carried out by the accelerometer and multi-touch.
The game is done nicely.
The price $9.99 (a brand, really).
Short reference.
For the first time the game appeared in 70-80ties on ColecoVision and Atari 2600 consoles. At the time Sega was the author if the game. And thanks to Atari the year of 1981 became the birthday of the frog.
During his 27 years, Frogger was on more that 30 game platforms. And now here it is for iPhone. Let’s applaud to the oldest frog in the world!

Remember when your parents bought you puzzles where you needed to complete the figure using squares, triangles, etc.? I was enjoying them very much.
Yesterday night I was looking for some game that would occupy me for more than 5 minutes and found TanZen!

The game has Tutorial mode where you learn how to move the figures, rotate and switch them. TanZen has more than 100 levels. Speaking of which, so far I’ve completed 5, and I’m going to continue today.

MetaSquares is a simple logic game. The goal is to create a square and not to allow the computer do the same. The squares can be created at whatever angle you like and the bigger the square is, the more points you get. First to have 150 points wins. You begin at the first level, which is rather easy, but after each victory the AI gains in intellect, and winning becomes harder.
You can set up the difficulty level as well as game-field appearance.
The game is goo on your eyes.
You can also listen to your custom music during the game.
The authors are preparing an update that will allow more that one human player on the same phone and Wi-Fi play.
On their website you can find the On-line demo version.

Super Monkey Ball is one of the first games at AppStore. It was shown at WWDC’08 and held a the top position for 2 first weeks. I absolutely loved it after the presentation. But after I’ve read some coomments and saw that it was down to 16th place, I decided not to buy it… Yesterday I went to AppStore in 5th Avenue and saw it live: there was a little boy sitting there who was screaming and hitting his iPhone against the chair after each time he lost. I liked the emotions, a as soon as I came home, I bought the game. (read more…)

Two good programs for password generation appeared today in AppStore. Now you don’t have to think hard to create a strong enough password.
PassGen and PwGen. These will generate you such password, that you won;t be able to memorize it at once, but it will be a good guarantee of your account safety.
There are a few differences between these programs: PassGen can send your newly created password to your e-mail and PwGen generates more than one password at a time. The rest is identical. In both programs you can set the number of symbols allowed and what symbols to use.
The cost: Free
By the way, the three most popular passwords are:
- password
- 123456
- qwerty

This morning Vlade told me about the most expensive program at AppStore I Am Rich which costs $999.99. Upon purchase you get a picture with a gem that “increases your karma” as a rich man. Wanna see what it looks like? (read more…)
CubicMan, a great logic game appeared today at AppStore.
The goal of the game is to bring the cube to a point by dragging it across the screen.
There are 2 types of this game: CubicMan Lite (free) and CubicMan Deluxe (costs $4.99).

The date of the great event that happens only once every 4 years is rapidly approaching. The 29 Olympic Games will be held in China.

The Beijing 2008 application from App Store will help keep track of how many medals our select team holds.
The app costs $1.99.
You can cheer for the Russian team at the forum.
Remember me telling you about the 2 most expensive apps at AppStore?

Yesterday they both became basically “freebies”. The reason is the release of I Am Rich.
The application costs 999.99$ and contains only an image of a ruby.
P.S.: Yes, everyone who wants to show off will find a way.

The second Rashid’s victory is the Digger which is now also sold at AppStore. In the game, you need to control the miner, dig out all treasures and avoid the ghosts. I don’t think I need to describe it anymore, everybody has played it.

I couldn’t get used to controls: the display doesn’t allow to control the guy as fast as I could with a mouse or keyboard. As a result, rocks keep falling on my head together with my own treasures and the ghosts keep catching me. Although Rashid composed two ways of controls: touch and virtual keyboard, you still need to get used to it.
The price: 3.99

Matches, an easy logic game, won’t leave you any chance to win if you play against the iPhone. Half an hour passed, and I still lose round by round. The rules of the game are: you have some matches on the table, each turn you can take from 1 to 5, the person to pick up the last match loses.

It’s interesting that it was a Russian developer rashn, who made it. He is widely known at our forum. Congratulations, Rashid!
I just don’t get why the AppStore icon is different from springboard one.

Update by SeaBreeze: the release date on the screenshot is not the real one. The game made the list only today, but the search for new software gives nothing. It means that the delay of Apple moderators reflects application popularity, a lot of people check new applications before anything else.

Today I want to tell you about a great thing: VNC – Virtual Network Computing (the link leads to WiKi article). VNC is a remote desktop access system.
What do you need if for? What if, you need to turn on that torrent? Or, you’ve forgotten some very important info you need for the upcoming meeting. Or, you might have forgotten to turn your computer off.
At the moment there are two applications at AppStore that work with VNC: Mocha VNC and Teleport. They both are made for the one purpose – access the remote desktop. The settings are the same. (read more…)
