According to Vedomosti newspaper, the Big Three operators (Russian MTS, Vympelkom AKA Beeline and Megafon) are ready to offer iPhones in Russia without any service contracts.
Last week MobileTeleSystems signed an agreement with Apple Inc about iPhone mobiles distribution. Vympelkom and Megafon made that a little bit earlier. All operators announced, that the’ll begin to sell iPhones till the end of the year, approximately in the fall of September or in October. According to the agreements signed, Vympelkom and Megafon must sell 3 million iPhones each one for two years , and MTS – 1 millon in three years.
The contracts allow Apple Inc to control all the operator’s movements that consider to iPhone sells. The only one thing operators can manage by themselves is to sell iPhines with the contract or not.
