I have waited for this for the whole summer, and at last it happened. iPhones running 2.x firmware finally got an equivalent to SpringDial (for 1.1.1-4). It’s called TapDial and is being downloaded from Cydia. The main purpose of the app is that it makes dialing any number quick and easy – you can do it right from your Desktop.
TapDial from SpringDial in two ways:
1. TapDial allows you to set ANY number. That’s good. SpringDial can only work with numbers from the address book.
2. TapDial can’t assign an avatar picture to the contact. That’s bad. SpringDial could take a picture from address book.
However, the second point can become an advantage provided you have some basic knowledge of any graphical editor. If you want TapDial to use a custom picture for a contact, make a corresponding file icon.png and upload it to Applications/contact_name.app
And you get the desired result:
