Sony has just released new dock station with wireless capabilities for iPod player. The main feature of the device is ability to broadcast multichannel audio all over the digital home.
The S-AirPlay system uses a Sony S-Air wireless platform. The audio signal can be transmitted to a number of rooms at range no more than 54 meters without using any cables. The endpoint looks like a simple sound system speaker but with a radio receiver inside. Of course, it needs to be powered from electricity. Sony declares that the S-Air signal doesn’t interfere with other digital home devices.
The S-AirPlay pack consists of dock-station and two wireless speakers. You can increase the number of speakers up to ten ones. The feature of S-AirPlay is dynamic configuration of loudspeakers – each of them can translate playlist music or signal from FM-tuner, embedded in dock station. Other useful functions are sleep timer and an alarm clock.
Sony will begin to sale S-AirPlus next month. The price of full pack estimated in $400, and every additional loudspeaker will cost you $130.
