Belkin, accessories vendor from California, has extended its popular Sport Armband range to include iPhone. The name speaks for itself – this case would first of all appeal to fitness and sports maniacs.

Now it’s time to try it on.

Sport Armband is made of neoprene — rubber-based micro-porous substance. This stuff is incredibly elastic and durable. In our particular case neoprene is backed up by two textile layers – highly durable nylon on the outside and jersey-like fabric on the inside. By the way, divers wear neoprene too.

Look at the cute little key compartment, also suitable for other small valuables.

The screen is accessible via a transparent front cover. The iPhone’s upper end is fully available – just connect your earphones and go jogging in the park. To adjust the volume, use the two marks on the side panel – located right opposite respective iPhone keys.

Grey trimming around the pocket where iPhone is inserted is reinforced with rubber, preventing the phone from falling out.

The case is secured around one’s arm using a Velcro strip and an additional buckle fixation.

The Velcro strip is a good one, not likely to unfasten unexpectedly. We tried, honestly.

The vendor says the case is washable, in accordance with washing instructions attached.

Machine wash cold. Do not bleach. Do not wring. Dry horizontally. Do not iron. Do not dry clean.

Summing it up, Belkin once developed a perfect accessory for sports enthusiasts, which keeps evolving from the early iPod era. Now the Sport Armband range also supports iPhone and iPod Touch.

Sport Armband – cons

• Ideal for cardiovascular workout, no good for weight lifting: putting the band on one’s relaxed arm and then playing around with one’s biceps (say, an honest free weights approach) will make the band loose;
• In order to take calls one needs to pull iPhone out, which is not as easy as it seems. Doing it with one hand may be a tough task, so you’ll first have to remove the entire armband.
