Over the weekend, Apple, Inc. has finally gifted us with the ability to use our Russian accounts. I was able to use my cool account at MobileMe for the first purchase at AppStore. Of course, I could follow the instructions by Zerto to create a free account in 2 minutes and buy apps with it. But I wanted to use my cool username (and I’ve been reminding Apple’s support about it every 48 hours). Hooray! Now AppStore doesn’t show “Try later” error and lets you enter billing settings.

As you can see, Russian debit cards aren’t accepted, and I didn’t want to use same bank’s credit card.. But let’s make sure that AppStore really works with Russia. Look at the cities list (green arrow):

If you don’t have a credit card, then you have to find a country where you can tick None (or don’t have to tick anything) as the «Payment Method». It’s possible with American accounts, so we click on the circle that red arrow points to and choose US from the list. Then, we enter any American address. Both Zerto and I recommend to choose Florida as the home state, because there’s no tax (you’ll be able to save a couple dimes).

Then we are taken to the sacred page where we see the Redeem Code button. Here we need to enter iTunes Gift Certificate’s password.

“How do I buy the iTunes gift card?” manual by Zerto. Those who visited the saturday meeting have seen these cards. I bought one for $25.

So, we activate our voucher and go shopping.

THe first thing I bought was the Chopper for $7.99. Good game.
